All members, whatever your skill level, are encouraged to make a submission to the exhibition. To do so, please fill out the this form.

We are delighted to be holding our exhibition to celebrate the 65th anniversary of York and District Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers at the Tithe Barn in Poppleton.
About the exhibition
We are looking forward to sharing examples of the work members of the guild create. We have nationally and internationally famous artists as members as well as those starting their spinning, weaving and dyeing journey. The exhibits will showcase the range. We are an inclusive group who are keen to welcome all.
There will be:
- displays of exquisite textile pieces and stories behind the work
- pieces from members early in their crafting journey, so you can see how their interests and skills have broadened and developed over time
- demonstrations of weaving and spinning
- displays charting the history of the three skills, from basic spindles to electric wheels, from stick weaving to complex looms, from dyeing with plants to precision dyeing with commercial dyes.
And, of course, delicious refreshments provide by the Tithe Barn volunteers.

About Poppleton Tithe Barn
This beautifully restored 16th-century barn harboured Royalist armies during the English Civil War. It was featured on the Time Team programme in 2005: view the Time Team programme here.

The barn has a Tudor garden, which, if the weather is kind, is a wonderful place to sit and spin. Immediately adjacent to the Tithe Barn is the beautiful church of St Everildas, a pond and a wildlife area, as well as a historic moat field. The village of Nether Poppleton is pretty too.
