For Sale
I am selling on behalf of a friend, who is downsizing, a Saxony style wheel. It is heavy, looks like oak. 16 spokes, 53cm(20.75 ins) diameter wheel, double band drive, 86cm(34ins) high to top of wheel. One bobbin. No makers mark. Dark, well-kept patina in lovely condition, no worm or warping, spins true, no wobble – the wheel is in alignment, and clean. Not tried plying but it spins well. Distaff holder. Tension adjuster works well, con-rod/treadle connection replaced is now leather for smoother operation. The owner has had this wheel for years in her front room on display. I’ve serviced it – all lubricated and ready to go. Please make any reasonable offer over £150.00. Two/three bobbins can be easily made from the one on the wheel, I can help with that. Please contact Liz on 01377 288180 or text to 07798 762353 or email me, I am in most days if you want to come and have a look at this wheel. Email: elizabeth.smedley21@outlook.com The wheel is in Fridaythorpe.

We have been contacted by Toby a volunteer for a social enterprise called “This is Scarborough” which aims to promote the town centre. The majority of the businesses are independents and many of them are artists, creatives or craftspeople.“We have established a new artisan market called Scarborough Coble Market which is the second Sunday of every month. As part of the event we are paying a number of selected craftspeople to provide demonstrations at the event between 10 and 3 and we wondered if any of your members might be interested. Our web site is coblemarket.co.uk and you can find out more about This is Scarborough at thisisscarborough.org.uk or feel free to pass my email address which is toby@thisisscarborough.org.uk
